The annual remembrance day of P N Panicker
on 19th June is observed as the ‘Day of Reading’ by the Govt.
of Kerala for the past 21 years with week-long activities at schools and public
institutions to honour the contribution of P N Panicker to the cause of
literacy and education and propagating the message of ‘Reading for Inclusive
Growth’.
From the overwhelming response of the public and
stakeholders from many states, the Foundation as part of its Silver Jubilee
Celebrations is observing 19th June to 18th July 2017
as "Reading Month" across many states of the country from this year.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modiji
inaugurated 22nd National Reading Day-Reading Month Celebration at Kochi on17th
June 2017 and paid rich tributes to the efforts of P.N. Panicker Foundation in
making the country to achieve inclusive education.
The Prime Minister in his popular programme had also
exhorted to emulate the practice of P.N. Panicker Foundation of presenting
books instead of bouquet as welcome gift for functions and ceremonies.
